About Us - History
Based in Auckland, Jeff Tobin - Director and Adviser has worked in the insurance industry for more than 40 years and been an insurance adviser since 1987. Jeff is married to Elaine and they have two adult children.
Jeff is qualified as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Senior Associate of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance CIP-Certified Insurance Professional- AIINZ (Snr Assoc) CIP, and also holds the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services for Life, Health and Fire and General insurance. Jeff is a foundation member of Financial Advice New Zealand. Jeff works with clients from all stages and walks of life – from individuals to families, employees to business owners, professionals and self-employed entrepreneurs.

Jeff Tobin has agencies with AMP, AIA, Asteron, Cigna, Fidelity Life, Nib, Partnerslife, Southern Cross Healthcare, and Vero General insurance. We only use Vero as our sole preferred provider for Fire and General insurances. In addition, Jeff can introduce you to other professionals for advice in the areas of Mortgages, Wills, Trusts, Enduring Power of Attorney, Accountancy, as well as Investment Planning and Monitoring, to provide a total Estate Planning Service. Jeff can also introduce you to other insurance professionals should there be an area of enquiry better dealt with by another Insurance adviser.
Remuneration is received in the form of commissions from all suppliers, according to their standard rates. These commissions comprise an initial payment on placement of business and an annual servicing commission as long as policies remain in force. The rate of commission may vary from time to time.
Cost of our service to clients:
Our advice and services are free to you. We do not charge a fee for service unless previously agreed with a client in advance.
The cost to a client is the premium they agree to pay the insurance company directly for insurance cover that Jeff helps the client put in place and may renew on an annual basis.
Written reports on insurance needs and recommendations may be charged on a fee basis agreed up front with clients, should an independent reporting service only, be required. This allows you to source products elsewhere. This fee may be discounted if insurance products are subsequently sourced through Tobin Insurance Services.
Debbie Hitakahiwai, our Client Care Manager has worked with us since 1999 and has extensive insurance industry experience. Debbie helps look after our existing clients providing client administration services for Jeff.
Elaine Tobin has worked with Jeff as Administration, Accounts and Client Care Manager since 1994 and job shares with Debbie.
